About Mark Anthony Johnson
Like most people, he was a bully, a victim, a bystander and an up-stander. Attending a Bullies2Buddies conference (sponsored by Cross Country and one of his mentors, Izzy Kalman) inspired Mark to create an anti-bullying workshop.
Understanding the development of self esteem as a critical tool in helping victims to better understand bullies, and bullies to better understand victims, led Mark to focus his workshop on victim empowerment and resilience.
Mark served as mentoring coordinator for the Police Athletic League of Central Florida, in Orlando and mentored in local programs such as The Micah Project, Upward Bound, Junior Achievement, the YMCA, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lake and Sumter Counties. He became a founding member of the Department of Juvenile Justice Accountability Board for “at-risk” youth in Leesburg and assisted in creating the Children's Home Society Model program, serving as its first male mentor.
A certified Dream Coach, Mr. Johnson established Life to the Brim, an organization and website developed with the intention of helping others achieve their dreams. With his roots in the Toastmasters Speakers Bureau, Mark has given keynote speeches on various themes surrounding family, community and work. His personal mission statement defines him as a person who impacts, encourages and empowers others. He has authored two books; Multiple Streams of Success and The Dreambook (a life coaching book for teens). He has appeared on local and national radio and television shows.
Mark obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Tennessee State University and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Air Command and Staff College in Montgomery, Alabama and Infantry Officer Basic Course in Fort Benning, Georgia.
He is a disabled veteran having served tours in the Middle East and
Southeast Asia. Retired from the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Mark served as Case Manager, Case Management Coordinator, Unit Manager, Special Operations Response Team Member and Hostage Negotiation Team Leader.
